What is included

What our on-page SEO services cover

On-page SEO, sometimes called on-site SEO, is everything you control on the page itself. It sits between technical SEO, which makes pages crawlable, and link building, which earns them authority.

Keyword mapping

One primary keyword per URL, with every overlap and gap written down.

Titles and meta descriptions

Rewritten for the query and for the click, inside the lengths Google displays.

Heading structure

One H1, a logical H2 and H3 outline, and headings that answer real questions.

Internal linking

Descriptive links between related pages so authority reaches the pages that sell.

Copy that covers the topic properly and shows who wrote it and why they know.

Schema markup

Service, FAQ, breadcrumb, product and article markup that matches the visible page.

Keyword mapping: one keyword per URL

Most on-page problems start before a word is written. Two pages chase the same search, a third has no clear target at all, and Google is left to guess which one you meant. That is keyword cannibalisation, and it is the commonest reason a site with plenty of content sits on page three for everything.

We begin by exporting every query each page already appears for in Google Search Console and matching it against the page that should own it. The result is a keyword map: one row per URL, one primary keyword, a handful of secondary phrases and the search intent behind them. Pages that overlap are merged or re-pointed. Searches with no page get one planned. Nothing else on the page is worth optimising until this map exists.

  • One primary keyword and one intent for every indexable URL
  • Secondary phrases assigned as H2s and FAQ questions rather than repeated in the copy
  • Cannibalising pages merged, redirected or re-targeted
  • Gaps listed as new pages, ranked by search demand and commercial value
02

Title tag and meta description optimisation

The title tag is still the strongest single on-page signal, and it is also your advert in the search results. We write titles of up to 60 characters with the primary keyword first and the brand last, so the important words survive when Google truncates the line. Meta descriptions run to roughly 140 to 155 characters and say what the page offers and what to do next. They do not move rankings directly, but they change how many people click, and no two pages share one.

Where Google is rewriting your titles in the results, we treat that as evidence. It usually means the title does not match the query the page is actually shown for, and the fix is in the keyword map rather than in a cleverer title.

Heading structure that people and search engines can follow

A page needs one H1 that contains the primary keyword and tells the reader what they will get. Below it, H2s mark the major sections and H3s the points inside them, with no level skipped. That outline is how a search engine works out what the page covers, and how a visitor on a phone decides in five seconds whether to stay.

We rewrite headings as answers and promises rather than labels. "Our process" tells nobody anything. "How an on-page audit works, step by step" matches a search and earns the scroll. Template headings that repeat across dozens of URLs are removed, because near-identical blocks make every page that carries them look thinner.

Content depth, E‑E‑A‑T and SEO copywriting

A page ranks when it is the most complete and most trustworthy answer available for the search. We compare your page with the results that currently outrank it and list what they cover that you do not: the questions answered, the pricing shown, the process explained, the comparisons made. Then we close those gaps with copy written from your expertise, not padded to a word count.

Google’s quality guidelines describe experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust, shortened to E-E-A-T. On the page that means named authors with real credentials, specifics only a practitioner would know, sources for claims, and clear contact and company details. Our SEO copywriting keeps the brand voice in British English and includes the US spelling of on-page optimization where the page also needs to be found by American buyers, so one URL serves both markets without a duplicate.

If a page needs rewriting rather than tuning, our SEO content writing service and website copywriting service take it on.

06

Schema markup and image optimisation

Structured data tells search engines and AI assistants exactly what a page is: a service, a product, an article, a set of questions and answers. We add Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Product, Article and LocalBusiness markup where the page genuinely contains that content, and the marked-up text always matches the visible text word for word. We do not add review or rating markup unless real reviews are on the page. Schema is not a requirement for appearing in AI answers, as our guide on how to rank in AI Overviews explains, but it remains worth doing for rich results.

Images get descriptive file names, alt text that says what the image shows, correct dimensions and modern formats, so they help accessibility and image search without slowing the page down.

On-page SEO vs off-page SEO vs technical SEO

The three are often sold as separate packages, but they answer different questions and a site needs all of them in the right order.

What it changesTypical workWhen it comes first
On-page SEOHow relevant and useful each page isKeyword mapping, titles, headings, copy, internal links, schemaPages are indexed but sit on pages two to eight
Technical SEOWhether pages can be crawled, rendered and indexedCrawl fixes, canonicals, redirects, Core Web Vitals, renderingPages are missing from the index or the site is slow
Off-page SEOHow much authority the site hasDigital PR, editorial links, brand mentionsPages are strong but competitors have far more links

For most small and mid-sized sites, on-page work is the cheapest improvement available, because it uses pages and authority you already have.

Who on-page SEO is for

On-page SEO pays back fastest when Search Console shows impressions but few clicks: Google is already testing your pages for the right searches and ranking them too low to be chosen. It also suits sites that have grown by adding pages without a plan, and businesses about to invest in content or links that want the foundations right first.

We work as an on-page SEO agency for businesses in Leeds and across Yorkshire, for UK companies selling nationally, and remotely for US firms. If your pages are not being indexed at all, start with a technical SEO audit instead. If you are unsure which problem you have, the SEO audit will tell you.

Process

How we work

  1. Audit the pages

We crawl the site and pull Search Console queries for every URL to see what each page is shown for today.

    You getA page-by-page findings sheet.

  2. Build the keyword map

One primary keyword per URL, with overlaps resolved and gaps listed.

You getA keyword-to-page map you keep.

  3. Optimise in priority order

Titles, headings, copy, links and schema are rewritten, starting with pages closest to page one.

You getBefore and after for every page changed.

  4. Measure and repeat

We track position, clicks and enquiries per page and go back to anything that has not moved.

You getA monthly report by page.

How we show on-page work is paying off

We do not publish invented uplift figures. For every page we change, we record the position, impressions, clicks and enquiries before the work and report the same numbers afterwards, so you can see which changes earned their keep.

Client results are added to our case studies only with agreed baselines and the client’s permission.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Need something more specific? Ask a strategist

01What is on-page SEO?

On-page SEO is the practice of improving the content and HTML of an individual page, including its title, headings, copy, internal links, images and schema, so that it ranks for a specific search and satisfies the person who searched.

02What do on-page SEO services include?

Our on-page SEO services include keyword mapping, title and meta description rewriting, heading structure, copy improvements, internal linking, image optimisation and schema markup, delivered page by page in priority order.

03How much do on-page SEO services cost?

On-page SEO is part of every monthly plan, which start from £300 and £700 per month. A one-off project is priced by the number of pages after a £495 audit. All prices exclude VAT.

04What is the difference between on-page and off-page SEO?

On-page SEO changes what is on your own pages to make them more relevant and useful. Off-page SEO earns links and mentions from other websites to build authority. Most sites need on-page work first, because links cannot rescue a page that does not answer the search.

05How long does on-page SEO take to work?

Changes to pages that are already indexed are usually picked up within days to a few weeks of Google recrawling them. Pages sitting on pages two to five tend to move first. Competitive terms take longer and often need links as well.

06Is on-page SEO the same as SEO copywriting?

No. SEO copywriting is one part of on-page SEO. On-page SEO also covers keyword mapping, titles, headings, internal links, images and schema. We offer both, and they are usually delivered together.

07Do you offer on-page SEO services in Leeds?

Yes. We work with Leeds and Yorkshire businesses on on-page SEO, alongside local SEO for map-pack visibility, and with companies across the UK and the US remotely.

08Can you work inside WordPress, Shopify or our own CMS?

Yes. We can make the changes directly in WordPress, Shopify and most other content management systems, or hand your team a document with the exact text and markup to implement.
